Industrial Visit

I am just recalling the sweet memories of the industrial visit to bangalore and hyderabad in this blog.We softies at PSG Tech goes for an industrial visit once in a year.believe me it's absolute fun and enjoyment.
First year we went to HoneyWell bangalore.It was 2 days trip.We started by bus on the day we finished our 2nd sem exams. Our tutor Lakshmi Mam and Senthil kumar sir accompanied us.We were too tired to dance in the bus even to get up but lakshmi mam took the initiative by tht "kabadi kabadi" song from ghilli. there starts the enjoyment, then we saw the movie chandramugi with full commentry and teasing.first day we went to Honeywell,luckily or unluckily the person who was supposed to be giving us a seminar was not there.so just we went inside the company, visited all floors,took so many pictures and had a good lunch.Then we went to forum mall did some window shopping and then to iskcon a fully commercial temple from there we went to majestic circle and some shopping there finally back to hotel.The next day we checked out the hotel and went to lalbagh,since we were a big group we enjoyed lots there.then to brigade circle for some more shopping.From there we started back to coibatore.
In the second year somehow or the other we missed the industrial visit.but we compensated that enjoyment in the 3 yr iv.
Third year we went to hyderabad.One notable thing regarding this trip was we planned just a week before and confirmed only 3 days before the trip.All arrangements were made in a hurry with help of a travel agency. we went by train and it was a 4 days trip. this time our Amudha Madam(CG) and Senthil kumar sir came with us.First day we went to charminar-famous for bangles, Lasershow-can't forget the song they played abt hyderabad "old city,great city,big city", Imax-atmost fun in scary house and eat street for our dinner and back to hotel.The next day we went to BirlaMandhir-really nice temple, snow world-can't forget throwing snow on each other,enjoyed max since we went as a group and some people not comfortable with the snow went to museum.Then we went to koti bazaar-shopping there and back to hotel.Last day we went to Microsoft.We met our senior aarthi there.she gave us a small talk abt the company and work they do there.Then we went to the raliway station and got into a train to chennai.We had 5hrs break in chennai.we were split up and few of them went to spencers and rest to their friend's house and then all of us back to station and got into a train to coimbatore.
Highlights of the hyderabad trip:
Entire class went for the trip.
celebrated the batch day.

I hope and pray for another exciting industrial visit(most awaited 15 days trip!!)

PSG TECH-a turning point in my life

This blog is just to share my experience of entering M.Sc software Engineering at PSG TECH Coimbatore.here goes how my life started at PSG TECH.......It all started with entrance coaching conducted in PSG...... I came to PSG Tech for entrance coaching,all the way from karaikudi since my uncle is working here and my dream was to join in PSG TECH from my childhood since my chitti(my mom's own sister/inspiration,guide,best friend) studied there and she is currently in US.The coaching went well.In that time my desire to join PSG TECH reached its peak.As soon as writing my entrance examinations i told everyone in my family that i won't join any college other than PSG.Then the 12th results came.Me and my dad went to school to see the scores.I scored 1154/1200 and centum in Mathematics.My parents felt proud and everyone in my family were very glad to see my scores.I was literally flying in ninth cloud.Then my entrance examination results came.I scored only 80/100(cutoff as 278/300) and fortunately or unfortunately I belong to FC(Forward Caste).It was very clear that i wont get BE(CSE/IT/ECE) in PSG. My family members preferably wanted me to choose one among these streams since i am a girl.Though i will get one among this courses in many good colleges i was streamlined to PSG TECH.At this time i was remembered of my uncle telling about an integrated course called M.Sc software engineering when i was doing my entrance coaching.I started asking my uncle about the course and my uncle is also interested in taking me into that course so he started telling my family members about that new course.I was ready to take that course since my intention was to enter into PSG TECH but all my family members were concerned about the duration(5 years) and expense.My house was in chaos.Then my chitti told everyone that she did her job perfectly well by getting good scores so we shouldn't restrict her to anything .....let her decide.Then she supported me fully to take my own decision and go with that.
I submitted the application for that course.I got selected for the interview.I attended the MSc software Engineering Interview on june 29th(My birthday).I got selected and the college
started on july 7th.Within a week's time we paid the fees,got the admission in hostel,entered into hostel everything is done.
The story doesn't come to an end even here...then after a month comes the Anna University Counselling for B.E...then everyone wanted me to give it a try....since all my originals was in the college here i should get signature from my HOD and some more formalities were there....we were in a dilemma whether to attend or ignore this....finally i didn't attend the counselling at all...
everyone of my class mates,seniors would have experienced all these....all that will definitely run through their mind when reading this blog.....("gyabagam varuthe")other college students may have a different experience....

I did my schooling in karaikudi and
college at PSG Tech Coimbatore,
doing my internship at Intel Bangalore....
going to get settled somewhere..."yaar arivaaro!!"

Abt My place-Karaikudi

I am basically from Karaikudi located in sivagangai district,TamilNadu.It is somewhere nearby trichy and madurai.Nearly 2 and half hours travel by bus to both places from Karaikudi.It is known as capital of chettinad because of the predominance of "Naatu kottai chettiars" there.All the Chettiars there belong to one of the nine temples like maathur,pillayarpatti and so on.They wont marry someone belonging to the same temple.If there is no boy kid in the family most of them will adopt a boy.Adoption is very common but they won't adopt a child rather they will adopt a grownup boy at the age of 20,when the parents are nearing 60.They can adapt boys only from the same temple.The concept is all the people belonging to one temple are considered as brothers and sisters.
There are lots and lots of temples in and around karaikudi.There is one koppudiamman temple in the center of the town which we call as "kallukatti".There is two more big temples sivan temple and muthaalamman temple is also located very near to that.The Famoust temple pillayarpatti which is turning out to be a tourist spot nowadays is nearly 10Km away from Karaikudi.My house is in Muthupattinam and there is one very famous temple called MuthuMaariamman temple.
The Native place for all the naatu kottai chettiars are karaikudi and places nearby karaikudi like devakottai,aaravayal,aathangudi,kottaiyur.In earlier days people from here went to malaysia and other foreign countries and earned lots.So almost all the houses there will have 2 gates.Front gate at one street and bag gate will be in the next street.Nowadays most of the houses are locked or there will be 2 aged people in the house.The houses are opened only at the time of some family functions.
The Marriage function of all the Naatu kottai chettiars will be held for 2 to 3 days with lots and lots of formalities.The bride's side people should bare all the marriage expenses and there will be lots and lots of dowry.Just try to attend one marriage function there.The food will be really nice.They will provide food 4 times everyday.Chettinad is well known for non-veg and spicy foods.
The Kamban Manimandabam,Vallal Allagapar Statue, Kavi Arasar Kannadhasan Manimandabam and Periyar Statue carries honour to Karaikudi.
I did my schooling fully in karaikudi,so i was there for nearly 18 years.Since i am doing my college in coimbatore and project in bangalore,I am missing my hometown lots.

"Titanz and phoenix"

I have heard about college life from many people,but i am sure that none of them would have enjoyed and spent this much time with their seniors,like how our batch(joined MSc software in 2004) and our super seniors batch did..........
we are very lucky to get such a wonderful batch of super seniors.....They guided us and helped us in all possible ways.......even after they finished their college they spent their valuable time in sharing their placement experience with us....(they always give us timely advice- correct guidance at correct time)
All our other batch of seniors helped us and we spent time with them tooo....but this batch(TITANZ) is something special for us.
They came to college after finishing their (7th sem) 6 months project.till then we(I) didn't know much about them.We started talking with them when they were in their 8th sem.we really enjoyed their presence in the hostel and college during both 8th and 9th sem.mostly we go out with them and we know like almost everyone in that batch.We mostly had lab hours together,at times we even chat with them in the lab classes.Then they went out for their projects in their 10th sem.We really missed them a lot.but we are convinced with the fact that we will meet them in the next semester when we do our projects in bangalore.
The most memorable events in that 9th sem is the LOGIN,the login trip and the farewell.They conducted the login 2006.so their class mates were co-ordinators for the events and our class people were the deputy co-ordinators.It was indeed a great pleasure.Then the login trip which the entire department will usually go after that event.Both my batch and their batch people made a point that we both will go together in one bus,though there were so many problems like the total count couldn't be accomodated in a single bus,we still managed to travel together.Then regarding the farewell,we can't say good bye to them.it's highly difficult.but it's not good bye. it's actually "bye till we meet next".
I am very happy that though they became our alumini now but they are still with the same spirit in encouraging us....we went to wonderla for our 3rd batch day.....the initial thought of it came to us b'coz of them........
Just a "Thanks" won't be definitely enough for all they have done to us.........we will definitely prove them that they haven't wasted their time in advicing us......
